Odisha NEET PG 2026: Upgraded Round 1 Rules Announced — Automatic Upgrade, No Fresh Choices

The Odisha PG (Medical) Counselling Committee 2026-27, working from MKCG Medical College, Brahmapur, has explained how the Upgraded Round 1 of state quota counselling will work.

Candidates who filled choices in Round 1 but did not get the subject or college they listed first will be automatically considered for an upgrade against seats that fall vacant after Round 1 admissions. Upgrades will follow merit and the choices already filled — no fresh choice filling will be opened for this upgraded round. Candidates who got their first choice in Round 1 but do not take admission will not be considered further.

Candidates who did not get their first preference may take admission on their current seat, or may choose not to and wait for the upgraded round. Seats still vacant after Round 1 and Upgraded Round 1 admissions will be carried into Round 2.

The notice does not state dates for the upgraded allotment. Doctors in Odisha counselling should review their filled choices, decide whether to join their Round 1 seat, and follow the DMET Odisha website for the upgraded result.
