Odisha NEET PG 2026: NMC Subject-Eligibility Guidelines for PwBD Candidates Posted

Odisha DMET has posted the NMC's 2026 guidelines that decide which PG medical subjects a PwBD candidate is eligible for, based on functional assessment.

The Odisha DMET PG medical counselling site has published a notification on subject eligibility for candidates with benchmark disabilities (PwBD). The document is the National Medical Commission's "Guidelines on Assessment of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for Admission to the Post Graduate Medical Courses, 2026", dated 16 September 2026.

Under these guidelines, a PwBD candidate needs a benchmark disability of at least 40% and a valid UDID card, but the percentage alone does not decide eligibility. A designated Medical Assessment Board judges functional competency for each specific PG subject, and the certificate it issues is now called the "Eligibility Certificate". The guidelines group subjects into surgical and procedural specialities, other clinical specialities, and pre-clinical and para-clinical branches, and list for each disability type the functional requirements, the reasonable accommodation allowed and whether the subject is suitable. For example, upper-limb disability is generally not suitable for the surgical group, while many conditions may be suitable for non-surgical clinical subjects if functional competency is shown.

PwBD candidates in Odisha state-quota counselling should read the subject tables before choice filling, so that they only choose subjects for which their Eligibility Certificate makes them eligible. The full notification is on the Odisha DMET PG counselling website.
